In Texas everything is bigger

In a couple of weeks, I will go to the Canadian Rockies for a 10 day vacation. Last December in New York City, the gloves were most of the time in the pockets of my coat, because it is difficult to operate a camera with gloves. This time I was looking for the nerdy gloves where you can slide off the finger tips. It might look nerdy but at least you won’t end up with frost bite after a whole day of shooting.


Today, even though the temperature was close to 100F, I went looking for fingerless gloves. I thought it might be quite difficult. I went over to the outdoor store REI. The good thing about REI is that the inventory seems to be the same all over the US. Therefore they sell a wide variety of gloves. This quite remarkable considering it only snowed 50 times since WWII, in Houston. The surprises weren’t over yet, because the gloves actually had the right size. In Europe, even the large gloves left me with cold wrists because the gloves were just too small. The gloves I found today had sufficient length to keep my hands and wrists warm in a cold climate. Maybe the saying is true that ‘in Texas everything is bigger’.
